Spring on Mackinac Island

Posted by Kate Rise on

The days are slowly growing longer bringing the familiar up and down spring weather patterns. April was ushered in with a snowstorm that quickly melted.Snowstorm on Mackinac IslandWe’ve had some beautiful sunny days with gorgeous clouds and sunsets. Be sure and check out our stories, reels, and posts on Instagram to see spring unfolding on the island. Sunset over Lake Huron and Mackinac BridgeThe straits did not freeze this winter and it was nice to have ferry service most days. The Huron winter ferry takes between 35-45 minutes to cross from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island.Shadow wave on Starline Ferry crossing Some trips took a little longer navigating through the ice fields, but with the recent warm weather this is no longer an issue. We are looking forward to a full ferry schedule from both St. Ignace and Mackinac Island in the upcoming weeks.Spring crocus on Mackinac IslandThe Mackinac Arts Council had their first children’s play in March and Poppins was a proud sponsor. There was a great crowd at Mission Point Theatre to watch Mary Poppins, with a much deserved standing ovation at the end to celebrate!Mary Poppins on Mackinac Island

Each weekday afternoon we listen for the UPS dray to pull up in front of Poppins to deliver some of the many orders that have been placed throughout the winter. It is exciting to open up the boxes to see the new products in person. We have several new companies that we are excited to introduce to you.Poppin's on Mackinac Anthony DeNardis is the artist behind Mooreville Pottery located in Milan, Michigan.
