Fall in New York

Posted by Kate Rise on

Every November I travel to New York City as a buyer for Nephew's of Mackinac. I have worked for this family-owned Mackinac boutique for over 20 years. We head to New York to meet with a few vendors who do not travel to regional shows. I look forward to this trip each year. I love New York in the Fall. The city is so inspiring. This year was extra special. My Mum came to meet me from the U.K. and we hadn't seen each other in over 18 months. We booked an Air BnB in Chelsea which proved to be an excellent location for exploring. We spent our days walking and talking... and I mean a lot of walking and a lot of talking. According to Mum's pedometer we clocked up 12 miles one day!

    The highlights from this trip.

    - The High Line

    - The Whitney Museum

    - Washington Square Park

    - The Tenements Museum

    - Tacombi. (Bleeker Street tacos)

    - Buvette (Grove Street)

    - One World Observatory

    - The 9/11 Memorial

    - Taking the ferry to Dumbo

    - Walking the Brooklyn bridge

    - Drinks at the Boat House in Central Park

I felt very fortunate to have this time together and I didn't want it to end.

Living so far away from family can be very hard.
